Military Modelling Magazine

At the start of my career as a photographer there were many situations in which I didn’t imagine myself. I was young and carefree – lusting after excitement and the next daring assignment.
After a number of years and an array of of peculiar jobs I’ve learned to expect the unexpected, so photographing Nazi heads for Military Modeling Magazine came as no surprise!

Paul Handley is amongst many other talents an expert model maker, specializing in painting high quality figures of world war two soldiers. This head is the focus of a ‘how to’ feature on the techniques of painting these tiny masterpieces for the magazine.

  1. There are so many ‘..but how?..’ type of questions buzzing around my head.
How do you manipulate the brush at such a small scale?
How can you see so much detail in objects that small?
Congratulations to Paul on the paintwork. Pass on my regards to him – it seems a long time since ‘Life Drawing’ evening classes at Newark Tech.
